The FM6DD-MUL garden shredder changes the game when it comes to what you can process for your mulch. The fully adjustable angle of the rotating hopper and chute provides full control over the speed at which the machine can process mulch. If you’re processing hardwood, you can lean the hopper and chute back, which allows the machine time and freedom to process the material into the drum. If you’re mulching softer material, you can lean the hopper and chute forward, which allows the machine to slow the material processed. This innovative design prevents the engine from stalling.

Only used for a few hours but so far it has exceeded expectations. Comes in two boxes with only one delivered initially, a quick phone call confirmed that both were with courier and they called back a few minuted later to confirm second box would be delivered the next morning.
Assembly was easy with very clear instructions and I loved the bolts etc arriving in an organised case rather than jumbled in a bag. It started first time and runs smoothly.
As I say I’ve only used it for a few hours but it chomped its way through a wide range of materials from branches to brambles and made a fine job of the lot.

Excellent quick delivery BUT I’m VERY PEEVED that there is no explanation on the website that the only difference between a mulcher and a basic FM6hpdd is the out
schutes. There is a premium price of £173 for the mulcher which has the low level shute while the 6hdd has the high level schute. I ordered a mulcher believing it to have some superior feature warranting a premium, but also ordered the high level discharge shute. I now realise that all I needed to get what I want was to order a 6hpdd, saving on the mulcher premium £173 and the accessory price £79 on top. It is entirely spurious and misleading to make a descriptive and significant price difference between the two identical (save only for the schutes) machines. Hi Anthony, this is absolutely not the case. The entire drum is actually a different design. The drum has been laser cut to feature a grated drum design in order to break down plant and other green material before being discharged out of the chute. Without this design change, the green material would sit within the drum and simply block up each time you tried to process.
In addition to the improved drum, the mulcher also has the ability to completely rotate/adjust the chipper drum to suit the material you’re processing. The fully adjustable angle means that you have complete control over the speed at which the machine will mulch. If you’re mulching a harder material then the hopper & chute should be positioned more vertically. The easier the material to cut then the less steep you can rotate the machine in order to prevent engine stalling.
On top of this, the mulcher design is completely self-contained from the engine/motor. This means that you can actually put a hose directly into the chute in order to clear out the wetter/stickier material you may have been processing. Another feature which is not possible and would be unnecessary with the standard FM6DD wood chipper.
I hope that this changes your view and rating of the machine.

Great, labour-saving, machine and excellent help/advice from the Technical team. However, sometimes gets blocked when using chipping discharge chute due to “sawdust-like” particles.

First class and rapid service from Arrow to whom I would give 5 stars. The product itself is exceptional and certainly does what it’s supposed to do, but let down a bit by the operating instructions; if you’ve never owned one of these it isn’t obvious which of the two holes the oil goes in (it’s either) and you need to remove the metal plate just inside the hopper to be able to feed soft mulching material efficiently – and refit it for shredding branches. It would be unfair to give it less than 5 stars, because it’s built like a tank and the engine is sweet, but maybe a straight from the box tutorial would be useful.

Size is NOT an issue. Really thought I was going to be returning it based just upon size … very pleasantly surprised when I used it … I could cut and shred/mulch quickly for once. And mulch it is – peasized pieces. Could really benefit from a handle for walking/moving it though. Would be simple enough to add onto the existing design.
