Forest Master FM5D 5-ton electric hydraulic log splitter
Forest Master FM5D electric log splitter, provided by the leading UK brand for forestry equipment, is the perfect machine if you have a small wood burner or are planning on splitting short log lengths. The FM5D is equipped with a 2200-watt motor which helps the machine reach 5 tons of force with ease. The FM5D is also a fast log splitter, the total travel time is less than 9 seconds*, meaning splitting logs has never been faster than a hydraulic log splitter.
This log splitter is perfect for dealing with soft and/or green wood, if you are considering splitting hard or knotty wood, then please look at the FM10 series log splitters.
Featuring two hand operation and supplied with the workbench and safety guard, using a log splitter has never been safer, once attached the safety guard allows you to split logs and contain them, this prevents any debris leaving the cage, in turn greatly reducing the risk of injury. The safety guard is also different from other designs, by removing the holes on the sides, the possibility of a log damaging the guard is greatly reduced. This also means that the log splitter meets the latest safety standards.

The FM5D is a powerful entry level log splitter capable of splitting logs up to 300mm* in length. Unlike other small electric log splitters which only have 1500 Watt motors and 4 ton of force, the FM5D is fitted with a 2200 watt motor which gives it 5 ton of force. This is an ideal entry level model for people with small fires and wood burning stoves who wish to split short logs.

Bought this to split about 4 ton of logs from a massive 100 yr old Ash tree we took down.Split almost everything but the worst knottiest pieces but it even managed to bust them apart just needed severing with the axe.Definitely worth the money.Only slight moan is the work table that comes with it could be a bit stiffer but is OK as is.

The first splitter I have bought and it is very good. A couple of observations are
It is heavy enough without the tray and guard.
It needs to be off the ground, bench or stand, for easier operation.
The ram could go a bit closer to the cutting edge.
I have been using it to split Eucalyptus which has twisted grain and is quite difficult, but it has done the job except for a couple of logs with multiple knots, so well done and it is probably outside its design scope.
